I’m back!! That’s right, I’m back and I watched Rocky. Let’s just say I was VERY pleasantly surprised. My mom pushed me to watch it because my dad always called her “Yo, Adrian” and she felt like Rocky when she gave birth to me. I don’t know how I feel about that.
But, after you get used to his annoying stupidity, Rocky becomes endearing. And to me, it’s more of a humanity and love story than a movie about boxing. (I did have to close my eyes during the last fight, because no one needs to see that)
Let’s just say this movie has stayed in my mind over the last few days in a good way. It’s not one to miss.
Weekend
Is it sad that I get excited it’s almost the weekend because a new episode of Dexter is coming?
To be honest, I didn’t watch all of “The Gold Rush.” I could only find it in VHS and I can only watch those in the kitchen while I’m cooking. Let’s just say it’s hard to watch a silent film while making chicken fajita soup.
Anyway, what I did see of it I loved. Charlie Chaplin is a jack of all trades, brilliant in every situation. I admire his work ethic.
Excellent movie. Now I’m going to investigate a siren I am hearing that sounds like the Dorothy machine from Twister…
Sick
sorry I haven’t updated… I’ve been sick. Just laying in bed and watching Entourage. What is it with that show? So addicting.
But I did watch Jaws, so look forward to that. And an awesome American Graffiti Wallpaper (if I do say so myself).
Nashville. Oh Nashville. You never had a chance, did you?
Well, I assumed since LIly Tomlin was in this movie it would be funny. I’m an idiot.
Let’s just say me and mid 70’s country music don’t get along. Not only did this movie not have a plot, it was also almost three hours long. It’s like a bunch of people got together in a room and said “let’s make a movie that will be insanely long, pointless, and inspire people to gouge out their ear drums!”
The video I have posted is just a snippet of the sonic love shown in the movie. After this song she gets shot, which is the only exciting thing about the movie. It happens approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes into the film.
Duck Soup was great. The Marx Brothers were literally geniuses in everything they did. What else do I need to say? They speak for themselves. At least three of them do.
I was really inspired by the original poster for Network.

Sullivan’s Travels (#61) was amazing. I don’t think there could be a better message to a movie.
So it starts out with this successful movie director (sullivan) who wants to make a great new drama, but he decides he hasn’t suffered enough to make it real. So he sets off to become a “tramp” or the old-school definition of a bum. Not a hooker. Along the way he meets Veronica Lake and they have some funny moments begging for food and hopping on trains etc, etc.
After their experience he announces that he is going to hand out money to all the other beggars in town. Well, a tramp/bum sees all his cash, hits him on the head, steals his money, and proceeds to get hit by a train. In the mayhem the people think the dead tramp/bum is sullivan, and sullivan gets picked up by the police as a bum (he couldn’t remember his name thanks to the sore head).
So he gets sent to this work camp with a lot of other prisoners. The only good thing these prisoners get to do is watch mickey cartoons in a really cool southern gospel church once a month. While sullivan is sitting there, watching Pluto get stuck in the curtains, he just looks around and sees all these men who have nothing going for them laugh their heads off.
After that he finally gets discovered and sent back to hollywood, and decides to make comedies for the rest of his life.
“There’s a lot to be said for making people laugh. Did you know that that’s all some people have? It isn’t much, but it’s better than nothing in this cockeyed caravan.”
It was hard not to cry after hearing that.

He guns it. The girl falls into the water. So we circle back, looking for her. Remember its pitch black out, the boat hits something .. Hard. And you hear kind of a *grinding noise*. And Brokaw says “just go, don’t look back”. Now, I’m not a writer but maybe there is a skit in that ..
